NICOL Scandinavian Drum Pendant Light for Dining Room & Bedroom

Two bands stacked into one drum. The upper band is modified wood veneer, cut thin enough to bend around the frame and still show its grain. The lower band is black perforated foil, a fine grid of holes running the whole way around. A drum shade is normally fabric stretched over a wire frame, and NICOL keeps that construction but swaps the material out. Made in Poland by TK Lighting.

The veneer band stays warm and quiet, with a line of light glowing along the seam where the two bands meet. The perforated band below it lights up like a screen and throws a soft dotted pattern across the walls and ceiling once the room is dark. The bottom of the shade is open, so you still get a proper pool of light straight down onto the table underneath.

The drum is 14.96 inches (380 mm) across. Maximum drop is 62.99 inches (1600 mm) including the cord, and it is adjustable, so you shorten it during install. That is a compact drum, which is why it suits a bedroom or a smaller dining table rather than a long island.

One E26 bulb, not included, so you can pick your own brightness and colour temperature. Max 15W LED, and that is the LED rating, not the light output. A 15W LED puts out roughly the same light as a 100W incandescent, which is plenty for a single pendant. For warm light through the veneer look for 2700K.

Over a kitchen island or counter, 30 to 36 inches from the surface to the bottom of the shade. Over a dining table, 28 to 34 inches from the tabletop. Lower feels more intimate, higher spreads the light more broadly. The cord adjusts so you set the exact drop during install.

Yes, with an external dimmer switch or dimmable smart bulbs. There is no integrated dimmer in the fixture, so you can use whatever system you already have.

Yes. This is a single pendant on its own canopy, so three over a table means three ceiling boxes. Worth knowing before you plan a row of them.

Turn it off and let the bulb cool first. A dry microfibre cloth handles dust on the veneer. Keep water off the wood. The perforated band collects a little dust in the holes, so a soft brush or a vacuum on low sorts that out. No cleaning sprays, and nothing abrasive on the veneer.

No, it is rated for dry locations only. Wood veneer and damp are a bad mix, so keep it out of bathrooms with a shower or tub and anywhere else exposed to moisture.

Yes. cUL listed for both Canada and the US, so it passes inspection and will not cause issues with insurance or a home sale. Made in Poland by TK Lighting.

It is a hardwired fixture that requires installation. If you are replacing an existing ceiling light on the same box, many people handle it themselves. If you are adding a new box or moving the location, use a licensed electrician. The fixture is light at 1.7 kg.

Made in Poland by TK Lighting, a European manufacturer, not a rebranded import. Country of origin is listed in the specs.
